Hamish Bowles and His Paris Apartment

Inspiration can come to us in many forms. For me it often arrives in the glossy pages of some amazing magazine like The World of Interiors or another favorite decor mag. This time it was the aforementioned. And this time it was the Paris Apartment of European Vogue Editor at Large….Hamish Bowles that did me in.

I have spoken in previous posts about color, originality and all sorts of things relating to avoiding a mainstream approach to decorating the home. This apartment is a glorious example of a space held sacred, but not taken seriously. Can we have both? Absolutely. Humor is a sacred thing…is it not? Laughter is heaven! And bright magenta and red mixed with aqua, new with old and wicker with Chippendale….if that isn’t pure wit…what is?

The layers of delight, the function and livability…the soul of this place will inspire me for days. Thank you Mr. Bowles.
